How Binaural Beats work
Briefly stated, binaural beats help induce desired states of mind.
They are a type of brain stimulation that help the brain develop higher capacities; similar to how muscles develop and strengthen with regular exercise. The science behind this completely harmless but effective technology is well known and understood (more information here). In this page we provide a short scientific explanation of how this technology operates. The topics include:

The binaural beat perception phenomenon was discovered in 1893 by the German physicist Heinrich Wilhelm Dove, what he regarded as a “scientific curiosity”. The practical applications of binaural beats and brainwave entrainment (meaning that the brainwaves are stimulated to follow a desired frequency) were not really understood until the 1973 publication of a scientific paper titled "Auditory Beats in the Brain", by the American biophysicist Gerald Oster and the Mt. Sinai Medical Center of New York.
The effects of binaural beats on the human consciousness were first examined by physicist Thomas Campbell and engineer Dennis Mennerich, under the guidance of Robert Monroe, who later founded The Monroe Institute, now a charitable binaural research and education organization
Meanwhile, further research was being conducted in the Menninger Clinic of Houston, TX, which unveiled the connection between the ability of experienced meditators to achieve quiet, thoughtless states of mind, and the corresponding response of lower brainwave activity patterns.
